Toxic Moxie: Toxic Moxie is a four piece dance-punk band hailing from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 2013, the band has maintained the same lineup comprised of Sera Stavroula (vocals, synth), Harley Kordella (bass, synth), Justin Shear (guitar) and Danny Crawford (drums). August 2015 marked the completion of their trilogy of self recorded and released EPs, all presented in the compilation titled VHS Box Set. Toxic Moxie’s instantly accessible brand of disco-punk has allowed them to open for a wide range of national acts including Moving Units, World/Inferno Friendship Society, Peelander-Z and Diarrhea Planet. They’ve been able to win over punks, hippies, EDM fans and everyone in between at venues and festivals all over the Northeast including The Black Cat (DC), Underground Arts (Philly), Aviv (NYC) and Pink Moon Festival in West Virginia. They pride themselves on their DIY roots and the deeper well of inspiration behind their music, drawing from progressive politics and social issues while still making it a point to turn every house, field or club they play into a delirious sweat orgy.
NATURAL VELVET: Baltimore based proudly queer alternative, post-punk band, NATURAL VELVET, fuses pop song structure with dark lyrics, and wild guitars to create a noisy dialectic; featuring Corynne Ostermann on bass and vocals, Spike Arreaga on guitar, Kim Te on guitar, and Greg Hatem on drums. Their newest record, Mirror To Make You, deals with concepts of rage, feminine anger, image and identity, and power. These concepts are layered between squealing guitars, driving bass, and the pounding drums present throughout all of Natural Velvet’s recordings and live performances.
Orange Drink: ORANGE DRINK is a one-man band created by the gay musician Drew Prusko from Milwaukee, WI. In 2016, Drew (a VCU alum) successfully completed the challenge of completing one song a week for the entire year. He’s been releasing the results online, which have his fans checking in each week to find him jumping from folk to rap to punk to noise to electronic. On stage, he’s been bringing the party to the masses with his boundlessly energetic live performance backed by experimental electronic dance music. With a show that builds to a wild crescendo, Drew’s infectious passion and enthusiasm will keep you dancing and sweating and screaming at the top of your lungs. Drew hopes that the positivity from his music and live performance will inspire others to be true to themselves. Music critics have been impressed with the diversity of output from Orange Drink and we’re excited to have him through as a sort of homecoming!
